Dear Members and Friends,
I want to thank all who attended our candidate’s forum last month. Everyone candidate running at large and every candidate running for Chair participated. We also included two independent candidates. Great questions were asked, and we were thanked for a well-run forum.
Our May meeting will be held on May 29th at 441 4th Street NW, from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM. The guests are representatives from Pepco who have a presentation on the power grid upgrade. We will also discuss any issues from our members.
Yesterday, the Federation Board voted to sign onto a letter in support of the following community organizations. Shaw Dupont Citizens Alliance, West End Citizens Association (Federation members) and Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association. The letter asked that the D.C. Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Board reconsider their ruling that a group of five or more individuals have no standing if the ANC enters into a Settlement Agreement with an applicant, even when the ANC is not a party to the protest. The full letter is posted on the website. This ruling has the power to disenfranchise communities across the city.
We are working a plan to increase the number of Federation Board members. If you are interested, please forward a bio to president@dccitizensfederation.org for consideration.
Best Regards,
Earl Williams, President
