Donovan Anderson is the sole owner and principal attorney of the Law Office of Donovan Anderson P.C. which was established in 2000 to represent parents and Charter Schools in special education related issues in the District of Columbia. Currently, through his firm, Mr. Anderson represents four Charter Schools in special education related matters amongst his many clients. Mr. Anderson graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986 and from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989 with Juris Doctor Degree. Donovan Anderson is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.
Prior to opening his own law practice, Mr. Anderson worked as an Attorney Advisor with the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) from 1990 to 1999. He worked on a number of legal issues during his time at DCPS, including as a Labor Relations Specialist representing the agency on labor relations issues before hearing officers and arbitrators. Mr. Anderson then transitioned to work as a special education attorney advocating on behalf of the agency on special education related matters by defending DCPS in special education litigation before mediators and hearing officers at the Student Hearing Office in the District of Columbia (now named the Office of Dispute Resolution) .
In November of 2015 Mr. Anderson was appointed by the Mayor of the District of Columbia and confirmed by the Council of the District of Columbia to a 4 year term as Chairman of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Mr. Anderson is also the ANC Commissioner for 7B06.
